Twenty years of supporting the arts.
The annual Lawley Art Auction is a thrilling event that draws collectors, investors, and art enthusiasts from all over Perth. The night is not just about beautiful artworks; it’s also a strategic battleground where patrons carefully plan their moves.
Established in 2005, the school-based event has raised more than $450,000 to support the talented and dedicated students in the school’s Specialist Visual and Performing Arts (SVAPA) and Specialist Music Programs. This support has allowed thousands of students to access an impactful extra-curricular program in the State education system.
Excursions, workshops with master artists and equipment upkeep are all supported by our fundraising efforts. We were delighted by the recent announcement that Mount Lawley Senior High School will benefit from Edith Cowan University moving into the city. The school will be provided with the opportunity to access the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) facilities, allowing for the expansion of these successful programs.
These expansion plans, although exciting, have increased the demands on our fundraising efforts. The Music Department is looking to equip the soon to be acquired practice and ensemble rooms at the old WAAPA facilities with essential equipment such as pianos, amplifiers, and other backline instruments and the SVAPA Program will be adding dance to their repertoire.
How the magic happens?
The Lawley Art Auction is run by the Mount Lawley Senior High School P&C Association, which is not for profit and made up of dedicated parent volunteers.
Led by our Chair’s Louise Aston and Monique Herbst, the committee begins working on the event experience months ahead. Our Event Coordinators, Art, Sponsorship and Marketing Teams plan thoroughly and execute well, an approach that engages supporters, creating the event of the season.
